Wildebeest Migration & Big Cats Photo Tour - 16 Days

• 16 days of watching and following big cats and the wildebeest migration between early July to Oct. 4 nights in Samburu National Reserve, 2 nights each in Ol Pejeta Conservancy & Lake Nakuru National Parks and 7 nights in Masai Mara National Reserve. • Accommodation in Mara will be chosen depending on your dates and the location of the wildebeest, also depending with the number photographers we may opt to stay in a private mobile-tented camp. • The tour fits well for new to profession wildlife photographer as well as other family members who are not into photography.

Day 1: Nairobi- Samburu National Reserve

Embark on an epic big mammals photography tour in Kenya with our 16-day safari adventure. Begin by arriving early in the morning at Nairobi’s JKI Airport or being picked up from your hotel and transferred to Samburu National Reserve. To ensure a smooth start to your journey, it’s recommended to arrive the previous night and book a hotel room, which we can arrange for you.

We pass through pineapple plantations and coffee farms on our way to Samburu National Reserve. We’ll spend 4 nights here, exploring the reserve and the nearby Samburu & Buffalo Springs National Reserves on game drives. Hopefully, capture stunning images of big cats in their natural habitat.

Day 2/3/4: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

Experience the diverse wildlife of Northern Kenya as we explore Samburu National Reserve on our big mammals photography tour. This arid region is home to a variety of species that are found only in this area, north of the Equator. Look out for Gravy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk and large herds of Elephants, Impalas, Grant’s and Thompson’s Gazelles.

Spot the very witty-looking Vulturine Guineafowl, a species we hope to see on our tour. And get a glimpse into the local culture as we visit the Samburu tribesmen, who closely resemble and share the Maa language with the Masai. Their homesteads are a treat to visit and will provide a unique perspective on their way of life

Day 5 : Samburu National Reserve – Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Experience the ultimate safari adventure with an early morning breakfast and enroute game drive to Ol Pejeta Wildlife Conservancy, the largest Black Rhino sanctuary in East Africa. Enjoy a delicious lunch and an afternoon game drive filled with sightings of diverse wildlife.

Stay in a luxurious tented camp, Sweetwaters Serena Camp, located in the serene private conservancy. Our camp offers a unique blend of under-canvas ambiance and luxurious safari experience, with tents clustered around a water hole and surrounded by the pristine wilderness.

Day 6 : Ol Pejeta Conservancy

We spend the whole day out on game drive photographing wildlife

Day 7: Ol Pejeta conservancy -Lake Nakuru National Park

Early morning gamedrive and later after breakfast transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park arriving for lunch in a lodge located on the hills.

Afternoon game drive through park famous for waterbirds.

The park hosts a great variety of mammals including the Lion, Leopard, Black & White Rhinos, large herds of Cape Buffalo, Common Waterbuck among other herbivores.

Day 8: Lake Nakuru National Park

Spend the day birding and photographing in the park.

Day 9: Lake Nakuru National Park - Masai Mara National Reserve

After early morning breakfast, we’ll head to our final destination, Masai Mara National Reserve where we’ll spend our next 7 nights in the central part of the reserve not far from the banks of the Mara River in a luxurious tented camp.

Overnight at a Matira Bush Camp

Day 10-15: Masai Mara National Reserve

 In the camp’s forest, a flock of both the Shallow’s and Ross’s Turacos may appear and herds of large mammals may be well visible from the dining area. During the famous Wildebeest migration, the big herds fill the area and you may frequently encounter large cats such as Lions, Hyenas, and Cheetah.

Here we may also opt to take a bird’s eye view balloon flight over the plains and wildlife of Masai Mara.

Day 16: Masai Mara – Nairobi

We take a morning game drive and after breakfast transfer to Nairobi en route for a visit to a Masai Village.

On arrival to Nairobi visit Giraffe Centre and Kazuri Beads Factory with a dinner later at Carnivore Restaurant before transfer to the airport for your outbound flight.
