    01

    Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

    After breakfast and pre-tour briefing leave for Samburu National Reserve to begin our Kenya Birds & Wildlife Photo Tour. Driving through the central highlands, which are comprised of the small-scale farms and large tracks of pineapple and coffee plantations arriving at our lodge for lunch.

    Game drive in the afternoon till 18:30 hrs.

    We’ll spend the next 3 nights here and the game drive should take us through the three famous national reserves namely Samburu, Buffalo Springs & Shaba (George and Joy Adamson did live here).

    Samburu/Buffalo/Shaba National Reserves

    Big Game here includes species well restricted to the arid conditions and some to the north of equators such as Gravy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe. Gerenuk among large herds of Elephants, Impalas, Bright’s and Eastern Thompson’s Gazelles, Desert Warthog, Beisa Oryx, Leopard, Lion among the smaller mammals such the Dwarf Mongoose, Striped Ground Squirrel and if you are patient enough a the Naked Mole Rat.

    The comical-looking Vulturine Guineafowl is a species we hope not to miss.

    Samburu National Reserve – Mt Kenya National Park - Naro Moru

    After early morning breakfast, we drive through the reserve enroute via Mt Kenya National Park where we spend the afternoon trekking on the alpine vegetation. leaving for the nearby lodge on the slopes.

    Naro Moru–Lake Nakuru National Park

    After breakfast take a short bird walk on the lodge compound. This may as well be a morning with sunbirds, which may include Collared, Northern Double-collared, Variable, Bronze, Tacazze, Green-headed, Amerthyst & Scarlet-chested. Lunch along the way before entering the park.

    The park host a great variety of mammals including the Lion, Leopard, Black & White Rhinos, large herds of Cape Buffalo, Common Waterbuck among other herbivores. The lodge where we stay is located in the hills.

    Spend the day birding and photographing in the park.

    Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara National Reserve

    After breakfast, we will take an morning game drive and then leaving for Masai Mara National Reserve. Masai Mara National Reserve where we’ll spend our next 4 nights in the central part of the reserve and not far from the banks of the Mara River in a luxurious tented camp.

    Masai Mara National Reserve

    From the camp, herds of large mammals may be well visible from the dining area.

    During the famous Wildebeest migration, the big herds fill the plains and you may frequently encounter large cats such as Lions, Hyenas, and Cheetah.

    Masai Mara – Nairobi

    We leave early with our picnic breakfast for a whole morning game drive before transferring to Nairobi

    Nairobi - Amboseli National Park

    Early morning transfer to Amboseli National Park, located on the leeward side of Africa’s highest mountain the Kilimanjaro on the Kenya/Tanzania border.

    Amboseli National Park

    Morning and afternoon game drive in the park. Though a relatively dry, dust and mainly open area, it collects lots of underground water from Mt. Kilimanjaro hence several springs of swampy habitats of papyrus that attracts huge concentration of wildlife especially African Elephants, Eastern White-bearded Wildebeests, Common Zebra, Common Warthogs, Masai Giraffe, Gerenuk, Impala, Lesser Kudu with a variety of waterfowls. There’s also the open acacia woodland and Commiphora bushland around the park.

    Amboseli National Park - Nairobi Flight

    After an early morning breakfast game drive and later transfer to Nairobi. Visit Giraffe Centre and a women-run Kazuri Beads Factory and tour the factory as they make beads. In the evening or depending on your international flight we visit Carnivore Restaurant for dinner and transfer to the airport for your outbound flight.
