KENYA WILDLIFE TOUR - 8 Days

Kenya Wildlife Tour is meant for non -birders though be warned that the hilarious-looking Vulturine Guineafowl, Ostrich and Secretary Bird will always cause some obstructions along the way. We will look at big as well as small mammals and watching the hippos from a boat ride in Lake Naivasha is always wild thrill. The tour covers Samburu National Reserve, Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Lake Nakuru National Park, Lake Naivasha & the famous Masai Mara National Reserve.

Day 1: Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve

Arrive early in the morning at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or be picked up early in the morning from your hotel and transfer to  Samburu National Reserve. arriving at our lodge for lunch

and later leaving for our afternoon game drive.  We’ll spend the next 2 nights here.

Day 2: Samburu National Reserve.

Big Game here includes species well restricted to the arid conditions and some to the north of equator such as Gravy’s Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk among large herds of Elephants, Impalas, Grant’s and Thompson’s Gazelles, Beisa Oryx, Desert Warthog

Overnight at Samburu Game Lodge

Day 3: Samburu National Reserves - Mt. Kenya National Park

After morning breakfast game drive through the reserve and later transfer to Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

where we may have slim but better chances for the African Wilddogs if luck enough. Lunch at the camp and later an afternoon game drive. Our lodge, a sheltered oasis, clustered around a water hole and set in the pristine calm of the private conservancy, Sweetwaters Serena Camp offers a charming blend of under-canvas ambiance and Kenyan safari luxury.

Day 4: Ol Pejeta Conservancy – Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast spend the early morning hours in the conservancy viewing wildlife and later and we transfer across the Solio Plains and later descending to the Great Rift Valley via the Subukia Escarpment and along the dormant Menengai Crater to reach the flamingo famous Lake Nakuru National Park. Lunch along the way before entering the park. The park hosts a great variety of mammals including the Lion, Leopard, Black & White Rhinos, large herds of Cape Buffalo, Common Waterbuck among other herbivores. The lodge where we stay is located in the hills.

Overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park –Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, spend the early morning hours in the park game viewing till mid day. Lunch in the lodge before leaving for Lake Naivasha, one of the two freshwater lakes along the rift valley. A boat ride on the lake gives us opportunities for closer shots of some waterfowls such as the Great White Pelican, Goliath Heron, African Fish Eagle among the gulls.

Day 6: Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, we will take a morning walk at the lodge before leaving for Masai Mara National Reserve famous for the over 1.5 million wildebeest migration. We spend our next 2 nights in the central part of the reserve and closer to the banks of the Mara River in a private mobile-tented camp that reminds you of the old days’ safaris.

Day 7: Masai Mara National Reserve

In the camp’s forest, a flock of both the Shallow’s and Ross’ Turacos may appear and herds of large mammals may be well visible from the dining area. During the famous Wildebeest migration, the big herds fill the area and you may frequently encounter large cats such as Lions, Hyenas, and Cheetah.

Day 8: Masai Mara – Nairobi

We take an early morning breakfast and game drive before leaving back for Nairobi and visiting a local Masai cultural homestead before descending the Rift Valley’s western and ascending the Eastern escarpments.
